Hi Amy! The garlic is minced and it’s added when the butter is added in step 4. One pot is used to prepare the onions and cheese sauce, and it’s all then transferred to a 9×13 inch casserole dish for baking.

Just says 2 cloves…minced, smashed or whole? Add to onions towards the end? Also a little confused by first cooking with skillet and then switching to a pot? Your pictured description looks like just one pot (Dutch oven?). I would like to minimize pans if possible.

Can this be made per directions and frozen in smaller portions? Maybe 8×8” and smaller dishes?

Thank you,
Cindy

It should be 45 minutes and 40 minutes, you made it correctly. If the oven is set to 350 degrees, it shouldn’t burn the cheese when it’s not covered. I make this often and it doesn’t burn. But to be safe, next time, I would alter the time and bake it covered for 70 minutes, and then uncover and bake for 10-15. It sounds like your unit may run a bit hot on the top.
